2010 Utah Snow Kite Trip
Ocean Extreme Sports is planning our annual ultimate snow kiting trip to Utah. Having snow kited various spots in northern Utah over the past 4 years, we are confident that this is the best snow kiting spot in the U.S. 500 inches of snow annually on average and consistent SW winds coming up out of the valley into upper mountain bowls creates perfect snow kiting conditions. Powder Mountain now has a dedicated snow kiting area on the upper mountain, making it the epic snow kite destination. If the wind does not blow, you can choose from 4 ski resorts within an hours drive - Powder Mountain, Snow Basin, Park City, and The Canyons - all of which have epic terrain and tons of powder with a variety of terrain. If the wind cranks we can also check out Strawberry Reservoir, which is known as one of Utah’s finest snow kiting areas with upper mountain terrain above the lake. While the dates are not set in stone at this point, the Powder Mountain Superfly Open is the second week of March, which is a possibility. The later in the season, the more snow there is, but the slopes get more crowded towards spring break.
